Pedro Pascal has been tapped to lead the Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As the Star Wars universe continues to expand, we've received word that Pedro Pascal (KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE, GAME OF THRONES) has been cast as the lead for Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars TV series, THE MANDALORIAN. After floating a couple of names to lead the charge, it's being reported that Pascal has been offered the role and is now in the process of negotiating for the gig.

Written by IRON MAN and THE JUNGLE BOOK director Jon Favreau, THE MANDALORIAN takes place after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. When the new and highly-anticipated series arrives it will center on a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. Set to direct the first episode of the series is STAR WARS REBELS and STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS alum Dave Filoni. Then, as a way of adding to the cool factor of this ambitious new project, it's been said that Taika Waititi (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, JOJO RABBIT), Bryce Dallas Howard (JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, BLACK MIRROR), Rick Famuyiwa (DOPE), and JESSICA JONES alumna Deborah Chow will helm episodes as well.

In addition to writing the series, Favreau will also executive produce alongside Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Meanwhile, Karen Gilchrist will act as a co-executive producer of the series.

For those of you who simply can't get enough of the George Lucas-created space saga, Disney has also announced that they're plotting a ROGUE ONE prequel centering on Diego Luna's Cassian Andor character. For the moment, Pascal is in the midst of filming WONDER WOMAN 1984 with Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot. After the warrior princess sequel wraps, Pascal is set to star in WASP NETWORK, a film by director Olivier Assayas that tells the story of five Cuban political prisoners who had been imprisoned by the United States since the late 1990s on charges of espionage and murder.

It looks as if everything is coming up Milhouse for Pedro Pascal, my friends. Let's just sit back and enjoy the ride, shall we?
