For whatever reason, Asian horror news has been pretty rampant in the last few days. Just yesterday we had a rad new look at a Thai flick called DIE A VIOLENT DEATH, and today we had not one, but two articles on Takashi Shimizu’s SHOCK LABYRINTH. Might have to tally up a third day running, because the good peeps over at Twitch just nabbed the first teaser for the awesome looking J-horror-action outing MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD. Dig it…
Fusing three of Japan’s most feted horror directors: Yoshihiro Nishimura (TOKYO GORE POLICE, VAMPIRE GIRL VS. FRANKENSTEIN), Noboru Iguchi (MACHINE GIRL, ROBO-GEISHA), and Tak Sakaguchi (SAMURAI ZOMBIE) – MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD is yet another cool sounding horror anthology, only this time, each of the three segments is strung out through one continuous narrative. In other words, there aren’t three different stories so much as three different directors helming a specific section of the same story. Which I quite dig actually.
Hitting its native country this May, the flick stars Naoto Takenaka, Asami, Cay Izumi, Kanji Tsuda, Sayako Nakoshi, Suzuka Morita, Erika Terajima, and Demo Tanaka and pin up model Yumi Sugimoto (below).
