This past Saturday marked the 5th annual Scream Awards presented by Spike TV, and as customary, a whole host of exclusive material was unveiled at the gala. We’ve been lacing you with scant doses here and there, but today we’ve got something pretty damn cool. You recall Mikael Håfström’s exorcism flick THE RITE, don’t you? Well, looks like the first teaser trailer for the joint has been screened, and we got a copy below for your enjoyment!
So, what can you expect to see in the fresh footage? Nothing short of sweeping overhead shots of The Vatican, eerily dangling church-crosses, black and white robes, and of course, Anthony Hopkins’ paralyzing voice inflection. Frightening stuff gang!
Hitting the pulpit January 28th, THE RITE centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.
