Penthouse: Tom Holland Teams Up with The Fall Guy Writer Drew Pearce for a New Thriller

After swinging his way into the history books with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony Pictures is wasting no time keeping Tom Holland firmly in the family. The studio has pre-emptively acquired Penthouse, an upcoming thriller rooted in an original concept by writer Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy, Hotel Artemis, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw).

From Web-Slinger to High-Concept Thriller

With Holland’s own production company, Billy17, teaming up with Pearce’s Point of No Return to produce, Penthouse is built explicitly as a starring vehicle for Holland. While plot specifics are still tightly under wraps, it’s not hard to see why Sony is eager to lock him down again. Brand New Day completely shattered expectations, pulling in a staggering $2 billion at the worldwide box office and cementing Holland as one of Hollywood’s most reliable global draws.

Stepping Into Classic Hollywood Shoes

Beyond his return to high-stakes thrillers, Holland’s slate is remarkably busy. He’s stepping into dancing shoes for an untitled Fred Astaire biopic directed by Paul King (Paddington, Wonka). Holland will star as the legendary entertainer, joined by an impressive supporting cast featuring Margaret Qualley as Adele Astaire, Sabrina Carpenter as Ginger Rogers, and Talia Ryder as June Allyson.

Betrayal, Money Laundering, and True Crime Dramas

On the dramatic front, Holland is teaming up with Jason Bateman for The Partner. Based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel, the story follows a New Orleans lawyer who fakes his own death after stealing $90 million from his firm, only to find himself trapped in a brutal web of torture, betrayal, and capital murder charges. Bateman is attached to direct.

Rounding out his upcoming projects, Holland will star alongside Austin Butler in American Speed. The gritty docudrama chronicles the wild, true story of three professional racecar-driver brothers caught up in the infamous 1980s IMSA scandal—where racing dreams were financed through high-stakes criminal enterprises, including drug trafficking and money laundering. Between blockbuster superhero success and prestige dramas, Holland’s post-web era is shaping up to be his most versatile yet.
