Pet Sematary remake wraps; here’s John Lithgow as new Jud Crandall

Quite possibly the number one movie I'm looking forward to is directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch's (STARRY EYES) re-adaptation of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY. We already know that shooting has begun on the film, which stars Jason Clarke as new Louis Creed, John Lithgow as new Jud Crandall, and Amy Seimetz as new Rachel Creed, but today we have word the film has wrapped shooting!

And speaking of John Lithgow as new Jud Crandall, today we have your first look at the man via a silly behind the scenes pic. We were made aware of this image via Cinephellas over on Twitter who posted the pic along with the caption:

It looks like filming has wrapped on @ParamountPics new adaptation of @StephenKing 'Pet Sematary.' Beau Ferris, the first assistant director, shared a picture of @JohnLithgow as Jud Crandall on his Instagram page! #PetSematary

Check out the tweet itself below.

As you can see by this first assistant director's Instagram post included in the tweet, he not only shows us our first glimpse of new Jud Crandall but also mentions the film only has 9 days left of filming… and he posted the pic on August 1st, meaning… PET SEMATARY has wrapped filming!

While Stephen King wrote the screenplay for the '89 film, David Kajganich, Matt Greenberg, and Jeff Buhler have written the script this time around. PET SEMATARY has the following synopsis:

Doctor Louis Creed moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall. After the Creeds' cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. When Louis' son, Gage, dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy's body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis' visions of a deceased patient.

PET SEMATARY is scheduled to reach theatres on April 5, 2019.
