Peyton Reed in talks to return to the directors chair for Ant-Man sequel

Given the troubled production of Marvel's ANT-MAN and the mixed feelings which were brought up Edgar Wright's exit, the studio has got to be pretty thrilled by the end result. Not only did the film receive praise from many of the same people who questioned its continued existence after Wright's exit, but it has also managed to score close to $500 million worldwide. Not bad for a little dude. A sequel, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, was announced earlier this month and now THR has revealed that a very familiar face may be back in the directors chair.

The outlet reports that Peyton Reed is currently in talks with Marvel to return for the ANT-MAN sequel, but that no deal has been finalized yet. While Marvel seems close to securing a director for the film, no writers have been announced for the sequel; Edgar WrightJoe CornishAdam McKay, and Paul Rudd were the credited writers on the first film, but I think we all know that the likelihood of Wright and Cornish returning is fairly slim. Given that Evangeline Lilly's character has joined Paul Rudd's in the title, I think we can expect quite a bit more from Hope van Dyne this time around, and that alone is enough to get me pumped about ANT-MAN AND THE WASP.

Are you happy with the possibility of Peyton Reed returning for the sequel, or would you prefer Marvel seek a new director?

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
