Pharrell Williams teams with Girls Trip writer for Survive The Night horror

Musician and producer Pharrell Williams is known among his peers as a man of many talents. In addition to working alongside some of the biggest names in the music industry, Williams was single-handedly responsible for bringing Mountie hats back into fashion, if only for a short time. Now, the swiss-army-knife of talent is teaming up with Tracy Oliver, scribe of the 2017 comdey GIRLS TRIP starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haden for a horror film. With their powers combined, the pair will create an adaptation of the TY novel Survive the Night by author Danielle Vega.

Presented by Warner Bros, Oliver will pen the script in addition to directing the music-themed frightfest. Williams will board the project as a producer with Mimi Valdes of I am Other Entertainment. The story of SURVIVE THE NIGHT follows a group of female students who become trapped inside an underground music festival on Halloween. Throughout the story, the girls make a run for their lives while hoping to survive a mysterious attacker who hunts them from the shadows.

Right on. It'd be real smart if the studio taps Pharrell for musical performers contacts list for the film. I could see a whole bunch of artists he's collaborated with in the past being down for a project like this. Imagine seeing Daft Punk all decked out as Halloween robots, cranking out spooky tunes from a spinning UFO that casts orange and black light from the stage. Or, picture Weird Al Yankovic as a slippery barker for the underground party. The possibilities are endless. Here's hoping that SURVIVE THE NIGHT scares up a really cool film, once it hits theaters.
