PHASMA EX MACHINA made some noise last year when it played Fantasia and a number of other film festivals to positive buzz. The film has now secured U.S. distribution. Screen Media Films acquired the film from XYZ Films. The movie is scheduled to be released on DVD and video-on-demand in the second quarter of the year under an updated title: GHOSTS FROM THE MACHINE.
The folks behind the picture had the following to say: “We couldn’t be more excited and honored. Screen Media is a great company and they are excited to get the film out there. And what’s not mentioned in the press release is the very good chance of a small grass-roots multi-city theatrical run.” They also state that they support the name change for the good of the picture. It will retain its original title internationally.
A young man tasked with raising his younger brother after the death of their parents plunges himself into the murky science of the supernatural. Ignoring his responsibilities as a caretaker, he invents a machine intended to be a conduit to the other side. He reaches an unintended level of success that not only threatens his safety, but also of those around him.
The film is the debut feature from writer/director Matt Osterman. It stars Sasha Andreev, Max Hauser, and Matthew Feeney. We’ll let you know when an official release date is locked down.
