Phil Lord & Chris Miller reportedly being sought to helm Ghostbusters 3!

After the untimely passing of Harold Ramis, director Ivan Reitman decided to step down from directing the long-in-development GHOSTBUSTERS 3, leaving many to speculate over what could/should happen with the future of the franchise. Reitman's plan, however, was to continue to produce the film, but to hand over the keys to some new talent, thus beginning the search for a new set of filmmakers to tackle the sequel. There's a fitting number of filmmakers that could handle the property, but one such set of names (and the first that popped into my head as real contenders) are THE LEGO MOVIE and 21 JUMP STREET directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Here's the word from the street:

This is just "talking" right now, but in my mind Lord and Miller are the perfect duo to take on GHOSTBUSTERS 3. They've shown to have a real understanding of comedy, adventure, and most importantly, character, especially as it pertains to those genres. They feel like a team that has the pulse of today's audience and can appeal to both the young and old, which is a rare find. Pair them up with the right cast and I could see this being a success. Lord and Miller would no doubt pay proper respect to the original feel of GHOSTBUSTERS, while elevating it into today's culture and I'm down with that. As a lifelong GHOSTBUSTERS fan, I think this is a great choice for the franchise (if it happens, of course). But, that's just me. Let's hear what you think.

Are you down with these guys on GHOSTBUSTERS or do you have someone better in mind? Sound off below!
