Pinkner, Kurtzman, and Orci stay aboard as screenwriters for The Amazing Spider-man 3

Love Marc Webb‘s movie or hate it, at least they are being consistent. It has been announced that screenwriters Jeff Pinkner, Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci will all return for the already announced sequel to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 which doesn’t even hit theaters until next year. There has been a lot of rumblings that the third film will complete a story arc from the first two films and setup events in the fourth movie, potentially featuring The Sinister Six.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is aiming to introduce a bevy of characters who may only be minor roles in this movie but build to greater parts in the upcoming movies. Instead of taking it one movie at a time like Sam Raimi did, Webb and producers are hoping to make something that fits together from the get-go, something even Christopher Nolan‘s DARK KNIGHT trilogy wasn’t originally intended to do. We already know that Chris Cooper and Dane DeHaan‘s Norman and Harry Osborn roles will not come to fruition as supervillains in the second movie, nor will we see Mary Jane as Shailene Woodley was bumped out of the picture entirely.

Kurtzman and Orci get a lot of crap for their J.J. Abrams collaborations, especially the STAR TREK films as well as the first two TRANSFORMERS movies, but the early footage from Comic Con for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 looks damn good. I just hope they are not overplaying their hand and truly know what they are doing with this sequel brimming with good and bad guys.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, Chris Cooper and B.J. Novak is in theaters May 2nd, 2014. while the third and fourth films are slated for June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018, respectively.
