Pitt, Aronofsky and Arriaga teaming to bring us The Tiger?

For those who wept when Brad Pitt departed from Darren Aronofsky’s THE FOUNTAIN in 2003 or so, prepare for boner time…they may very well reunite!

Late word out of THR tonight has a fascinating piece about a project Aronofsky is developing as a possible vehicle for the FIGHT CLUB star. The film is called THE TIGER  (aka TIGER HUNTING), and word is Pitt’s BABEL scribe Guillermo Arriaga has signed on to pen the screenplay. Pretty badass pedigree if I do say so myself!

So what the hell is THE TIGER all about? Check it…

Set to be adapted from a nonfiction John Valliant novel, the story centers on an animal activist who must protect the small Siberian town he is in when a tiger begins attacking its inhabitants.

While the film is technically labeled a drama, I couldn’t help be hit with shades of THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS when reading that synopsis. That movie was too, a drama, but it had enough sinister tension throughout to get a little love from us hardened horror heads. Hopefully THE TIGER will find a similar balancing act. Better yet, hopefully Aronofsky will follow through and direct this bastard himself!

But give us your first impression. You in favor of an Aronofsky, Arriaga, Pit three-way? You like the sound of the project? Let’s hear it yo!

Pitt’s better half!
