For the first time since 2003, Pixar will not be released a movie for a full year. The recent news of Bob Peterson being removed as director on the movie likely has something to do with the change of release date for the movie starring Lucas Neff, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer, and Bill Hader. THE GOOD DINOSAUR will now premiere 18 months later from May 30, 2014 to November 25, 2015, displacing FINDING DORY.

With that change, Disney and Pixar will move FINDING DORY to June 17, 2016. That means no releases for 2014 and two in 2015 between THE GOOD DINOSAUR and INSIDE OUT. Pixar has had a great track record from critics until the last handful of movies which many have considered flagging in their quality. There is still a huge difference in quality between Pixar and other animation studios, but that gap is quickly shrinking. Pixar needs to return to their old ways to keep themselves number one.

Along with the Pixar changes, Disney has also moved Angelina Jolie‘s MALEFICENT from July 2, 2014 to May 30, 2014 and the Kevin Costner/Mario Bello movie MCFARLAND is now announced to hit theaters on November 21, 2014.

While we will have to wait and see what becomes of the new Pixar features until 2015, we can still look forward to the latest TOY STORY cartoon, TOY STORY OF TERROR, premiering this Halloween on ABC. Check out the new trailer below:
