Gaten Matarazzo, Sean Giambrone, & Lulu Wilson Lose Their Minds While on a Drug-Addled Odyssey in the Pizza Movie Trailer

I need to be careful concerning how I write about the new Pizza Movie trailer. Let’s say I’ve “ordered a few pizzas” in my day, and know all too well what it’s like to underestimate a drug only to find yourself trapped in an absurd journey of outrageous proportions. One thing’s for sure: you’ve never seen Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo in a project this wacky, and I am here for it!

What’s Pizza Movie About?

In Pizza Movie, a shy college student and his reckless roommate set out on a simple mission to grab pizza, but after a strange dose of a mind-bending experimental drug, they’re thrust into a chaotic night of absurd encounters, wild hallucinations, and unexpected revelations that could change their lives forever.

What Happens in the Pizza Movie Trailer?

In today’s Pizza Movie trailer, Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone play two college students who can’t move past their geeky high school personas, so they decide to risk “the best years of their lives” by taking a mysterious drug to liven things up. What could be the harm? Well, the drug ends up working too well, and the duo suddenly find themselves on a hallucinogenic headtrip that only a slice of pizza can tame. However, anyone who’s ever tripped will tell you, it’s difficult to do just about anything when you’ve got a head full of a foreign substance, so the task of procuring a pizza is far more challenging (and dangerous) than you’d think. Oh, and did I mention that Lulu Wilson shows up, and she also takes one of the pills? Suddenly, people’s heads are exploding, a giant octopus is looking for a place to crash, and time travel becomes the best mode of transportation. Madness, I tell you! Madness!

Pizza Movie is produced by American High’s Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps and All Things Comedy’s Billy Rosenberg. Jason Zaro, Molle DeBartolo, and Max Butler are also producers. Gaten Matarazzo is an executive producer. The film is written and directed by Brian McElhaney & Nick Kocher.

Order Up Some Chaos

What’s the most trouble you’ve ever had ordering a pizza? Or, do you have any outrageous “while being high” stories you’re willing to share? As your attorney, I advise you not to enter a crowded Sports Plex while on acid, or watch the movie Varcity Blues while candy flipping. You think Jon Voight is scary now? You should see him close up, with a head full of Blue Diamonds. Those days are far behind me now, but man, it was fun.

Pizza Movie premieres on Hulu on April 3, 2026.
