Planes, Trains and Automobiles will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the occasion, Paramount Home Entertainment have newly remastered the classic John Hughes comedy for a 4K Ultra HD release on November 22nd. That’s certainly exciting, but as an added bonus, the release will include over an hour of never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes that were recently discovered in the archives of writer, producer, and director John Hughes.

The newly uncovered Planes, Trains and Automobiles footage will be found on a bonus “Lost Luggage” Blu-ray disc and will offer “a unique glimpse into the filmmaking and editing process and features even more hilarious moments between Steve Martin and John Candy.” The disc will also include Dylan Baker’s original audition for the character of Owen.

Released in 1987, Planes, Trains and Automobiles starred Steve Martin and John Candy in a hysterical tale of travel gone awry. “Neal Page (Martin) is an uptight ad exec trying to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving with his family,” reads the official synopsis. “When rerouted to Wichita, Neal reluctantly partners with Del Griffith (Candy), an obnoxious yet loveable salesman. Together, they embark on a cross-country adventure filled with outrageously funny situations and a generous helping of warmth.” Will you be adding Planes, Trains and Automobiles to your 4K collection?
