Plot details for MTV’s Scream series revealed – Wes Craven to direct pilot?

So we've known for a while that MTV was planning on bringing us a new series based on the SCREAM film franchise, but details have been scarce over the past few months. The last thing we heard on the potential project was that there wouldn't be an overlap between the films and this new series and that the producers were experimenting with a 'supernatural' angle, which would take the series in a whole different direction. Now our brothers in blood over at BD have learned some more on the upcoming MTV series, including some plot details and word that series creator Wes Craven could direct the pilot. Read on!

According to their source 'the “rules” of slasher movies is at the center of this new series, as it has been for the franchise. The pilot explores a YouTube video that has gone viral and causes problems for the protagonist, Audrey, who is caught in the middle of murder and the town’s troubled past.'

Casting should be underway soon and there is word that genre legend and SCREAM series director Wes Craven will actually be directing the pilot this summer from a screenplay by Jill Blotevogel.

No word on whether or not they will still be going in a 'supernatural direction' for the new series. Let's hope not.

So how does this news hit ya? Personally, I'd rather see a SCREAM 5 than an MTV series, but I'll take what I can get. Spit bullets below and let us know your thoughts.
