Poker Face: Rian Johnson’s mystery series starring Natasha Lyonne drops a stylish teaser trailer

After Rian Johnson brings Benoit Blanc back to solve a series of crimes in a lavish tropical setting for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, he’s teaming with Peacock for Poker Face, a 10-episode enigma starring Natasha Lyonne. Today, Peacock revealed a Poker Face teaser trailer with the series directed and written by Johnson looking like a must-watch mystery of the week.

Poker Face revolves around Charlie (Lyonne), “who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying,” according to the official description. In the Poker Face teaser trailer, Charlie encounters several stars who make up the cast of this fast and loose presentation. The ensemble cast includes Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloe Sevigny, Ron Perlman, Lil Rel Howery, Nick Nolte, Tim Blake Nelson, Stephanie Hsu, Togba Norris, and more.

The official description for Poker Face clues us into the plot detail that Charlie “hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.” Can you imagine getting pulled into a mystery every time you stop on a road trip? It must be irritating to know if someone is lying simply by observing their actions. This talent is something you can’t turn off, making social interactions awkward AF because everyone lies. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of Charlie’s gift, and I doubt several of the characters in Johnson’s show are thrilled to meet her.

Poker Face debuts on Peacock on Thursday, January 26, 2023. The show launches with the first four episodes, with new episodes streaming weekly. It will be fun to see Johnson’s knack for crime capers released weekly, with news stakes introduced at every turn. Are you excited about Poker Face coming to Peacock? Let us know in the comments.
