BBC report that the director was recently at the Zurich Film Festival, collecting his lifetime achievement award. When he departed France and landed in Zurich, Switzerland he was taken into custody for a crime he committed over 30 years ago! What was that crime? Having sex with a 13-year old girl. Lifetime achievement. Check.
Polanski now faces extradition to the US once they make the request. Georges Kiejman, Polanski’s lawyer, has already stated the filmmaker plans to challenge the arrest.
