We have a couple of new posters for you guys today! The first is actually a rather cool-looking one for Johnny Depp’s upcoming Hunter S. Thompson-ing in THE RUM DIARY. I’m still on the fence as to whether or not the film will be any good, but the trailer and this poster are definitely fun, which is a good sign.

On the flip side, though, is a new poster for the Yimou Zhang (HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, HERO) film THE FLOWERS OF WAR starring Christian Bale. The picture, according to FirstShowing.net, “is based on Yan Geling’s novel The 13 Women of Nanjing [and] will see Bale as an American priest who shelters a group of prostitutes and female students in his church during the 1937 wartime atrocity known as ‘The Rape of Nanking’.” It will be China’s official submission for the upcoming Academy Awards. So for a likely very prestigious film, someone in charge decided to pick the most awkward facial photo of Bale ever and stuck it on the poster. It is almost awesome in its badness.

THE RUM DIARY opens October 28th while THE FLOWERS OF WAR currently has no North American release date as it searches for domestic distribution.
