Premiere of The Walking Dead: World Beyond pushed back to unspecified date

The tenth season of AMC's The Walking Dead will be wrapping up on April 12th, and the season finale was supposed to be followed by the premiere episode of the new "two season event series" The Walking Dead: World Beyond. But AMC has decided to switch up their zombie plans. World Beyond has been pushed back to an unspecified date "later this year".

While the first season of World Beyond has been filmed and there was just some post-production work left to do on the last few episodes, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused AMC to shut down production on shows that were in the midst of filming, which means they're probably going to need The Walking Dead: World Beyond to fill in a gap in programming down the line.

Created by Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete, The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands

the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest.  Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.  Some will become heroes.  Some will become villains.  But all of them will find the truths they seek.

The show stars Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Aliyah Royale, Annet Mahendru, Nico Tortorella, Joe Holt, and Julia Ormond. The first episode was directed by KONG: SKULL ISLAND's Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

We'll let you know when AMC announces a new date for World Beyond.

In the meantime, I still need to catch up on season 10 of The Walking Dead. Since I'm not reviewing episodes here on Arrow in the Head anymore, I have fallen behind on the show.
