When was the last time we seen the baddest vamp of them all? BLADE: TRINITY? Ouch. I think it’s time we heard from the Prince of Darkness, no? That’s why I’m very much looking forward to Alex Proyas’ DRACULA YEAR ZERO! Especially considering Proyas is the dude behind my favorite film of all time: THE CROW. Love that shite!
So why am I talking about DRACULA YEAR ZERO? Well super-producer Michael De Luca (above) recently sat down with Collider to talk about a host of projects, including GHOST RIDER 2, which we told you about HERE. Now we’ve got De Luca talking shop regarding DRACULA YEAR ZERO and the Nicolas Cage starring DRIVE ANGRY! De Luca’s first comment regarding DRIVE ANGRY?
“It’s hyper pulpy. It’s kind of like hyper-pulp, just kind of blood drenched, heavy, heavy car chase action that if you’re a fan of early Shane Black scripts.”
Well damn… I’m down! Did I mention this thing is coming at us in 3-D from the guys that brought us MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3-D!? Oh yeah. That’s right, director Patrick Lussier along with writers Todd Farmer and Zane Smith are all on board DRIVE ANGRY alongside Nicolas Cage. Want more? Head right over HERE to check out the interview!
Now we move onto DRACULA YEAR ZERO: “We have something that I love to death with Alex Proyas at Universal called Dracula Year Zero that we’re hoping to kind of see if we can get a compelling package for that together to get Universal thinking that we can be one of their bigger pictures for the near future. So I’m going to try to put a lot of time and attention into that one because I would love to see that see the light of day.”
Nice! De Luca and Proyas are pushing for YEAR ZERO to be a big release? Intriguing! De Luca goes on to sort of compare DRACULA YEAR ZERO to TWILIGHT and BRAVEHEART, seperately. He also gives us a pretty detailed explanation on what we might expect from DRACULA YEAR ZERO. Intrigued? Head right over HERE to read up on the rest of the interview!
Unfortunately DRACULA YEAR ZERO doesn’t even have a green light yet but that should just be a matter of time. As always be sure to keep it here for updates on both DRIVE ANGRY and DRACULA YEAR ZERO as we hear them!
