Empire caught up with producer Scott Stuber and asked him what’s the deal with THE WOLFMAN. He spills on A LOT of stuff! Like how they got Benicio Del Toro signed on, how different this remake is from the original WOLFMAN, the cast, the director, and so-on. It’s definately a juicy read, especially if your looking forward to the flick. Hell, even if your on the fence about the whole thing, after reading you might be pushed right over towards the full moon.
My last corny line aside, he does get into some interesting stuff. Like how the plot is going to be a lot more complex than the original. Meaning they’re going to get into the whole family angle a lot more. Granted, the original seemed to work with Wolfy goin nuts and eating people while having a major crush. But if they’re going to get into the family thing, at least they have Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins backing it up! Here’s one of my favorite parts of the interview:
“…it obviously has horror elements from the gothic nature of the movie and the inevitability of – the one thing the Wolfman does is he kills. So there’s got to be some scares and gore in the killings and the things he does while he’s the beast. So there’s that aspect of horror and we’re really trying to be true to that iconic horror stuff. I think the virtue of the movie and the reason we’ve got actors like Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro, is the writing. The quality of the storytelling is really interesting.”
