More specifically, the guys over at Badass Digest are reporting that ‘their sources’ are telling them MANIAC will be shot entirely in point-of-view, only showing star Elijah Wood in mirrors and other reflections. Then they’ve got other sources telling them the POV scenes will only be the killer’s scenes, which makes more sense.
Now clearly this is to be taken with a grain of salt until something is officially announced, so chalk it up as a rumor for now. That would be pretty cool though, no? Even if it’s only the killer’s scenes filmed in POV I can definitely see it working for a flick like MANIAC.
MANAIC centers on a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins. He finds victims on the Internet and stalks them like prey, all the while suffering from hallucinations that throw him back into the past, when he was abused by his own mother. In his twisted mind, he gains a measure of revenge against his mother with each kill.
Coming from director Franck Khalfoun and producers Alexandre Aja and Gregory Lavasseur, I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about MANIAC in the coming weeks so be sure to check back for more as it comes our way.
