It wasn’t that long ago we got word that the man behind SILENT HILL and BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF Christophe Gans was planning to direct and write a new BEAUTY AND THE BEAST film. Production is set to begin in October of this year.
Seems a bit early to have more news about it, but we have some as early promo art has been released for the film. It also seems a bit too soon to have some, but I guess it happens when films are in pre-production. The lovely piece of work can be seen above.
The film has Vincent Cassel (he worked with Gans on BROTHERHOOD) and Léa Seydoux (seen in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL) on board as the stars. The brief synopsis for this project was released: Through her great capacity to love, a kind and beautiful maid releases a handsome prince from the spell which has made him an ugly beast.
I am sure Gans will make an interesting film, his visual style seems very much suited to a story like this, and I am sure it will be dark and disturbing. All of his works have that vibe and they really set him aside from the rest.
