Screw Halle Berry! Rosario Dawson is one of the hottest women in film today. Don’t believe me? Check out SIN CITY or her gettin’ it on with Colin Farrell in ALEXANDER and you’ll change your mind.
Robert Rodriguez (who directed SIN CITY with Frank Miller) must have been whispering in co-director Quentin Tarantino’s ear for GRIND HOUSE, since QT has cast Ms. Dawson in ‘Death Proof’! Dawson revealed the news on Fanboyradio that she’ll be joining Arrow’s main man Mickey Rourke and stuntwoman Zoë Bell for the flick, as well as bringing along her RENT co-star Tracie Thoms. No word on what roles the two will play, but put it this way: ‘Death Proof’ centres on a misogynistic psycho who uses his muscle car to play a little DEATH RACE 2000 on the fairer sex.
Back to Rodriguez for a moment, who recently stated in an interview that he and Tarantino are so intent on capturing the sensation of watching a poor print of an exploitation flick in a rundown theater that they’re purposely “damaging” their movie. “In my film, we have a missing reel. A sign comes up in the second-half that says ‘Missing Reel.’ It’s like you went on a 20-minute bathroom break and you come back and all hell’s broken loose.” Furthermore, those fake trailers that are going to be played in between the two films? Eli Roth and Edgar Wright (HOSTEL and SHAUN OF THE DEAD, respectively) are each putting their two cents (or in this case, minutes) into the film. I can’t wait.
