PTA doing horror?

Update: For better or for worse, AICN seem to have quashed this rumor.

I’m a huge gambler, and the only reason I’m steering clear of putting money on the Coens’ NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN is that I loved the shit out of THERE WILL BE BLOOD and I really hope it takes home best picture. Of course, I was predisposed to liking it, since I’ve loved everything PT Anderson has done, from features to music videos. And I’m not a fan of horror movies per se, but he might be about to change that, since the rumor today is his next project might just be a genre horror flick like THE EXORCIST. B-D is reporting the story from a ‘well-trusted insider’, which isn’t the source of repute you’d like, but hey, what’re you gonna do? Apparently just an idea he has at the moment, he’s gonna make a decision on it within the coming week. Anderson’s THERE WILL BE BLOOD has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing. Somewhat controversially, Johnny Greenwood’s tremendous score has been disqualified from the Best Original Score category for including pre-existing music.
