The word on the street is Universal Pictures has bumped up the release date of the Paul WS Anderson directed remake of DEATH RACE 2000, cleverly retitled to DEATH RACE 3000.
Originally slated for a September 26th release, Universal now plans on unleashing the new RACE on August 22nd, more than one month earlier than expected!
When studios bump up release dates, it usually means they’re stoked about what they’ve seen so far, and they’re confident that it will make mucho bucks at the box office. It also usually means that the flick is pretty good, or at least, better than previously expected. Plus, they’re moving this beast from an early fall to a late summer slot… that has to be a good sign, right?
DEATH RACE 3000 stars Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane, Natalie Martinez (pictured below), and Jason Clarke–hopefully that’ll be enough to take on Uma Thurman, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford, and Anna Faris, as each of them have a movie coming out that same weekend… we shall see!
