Here’s one of the better trailers I’ve seen in a minute!
Why? Simply put, it evokes the halcyon days of Italian sleaze-horror. Argento, Bava, Fulci…the true maestros. Which is to say, definitely my bottle of booze!
The flick in question is Federico Zampaglione’s SHADOW, which actually makes its homeland premiere today (April 23rd). Good timing, ay? Let’s learn more!
Co-written by Domenico Zampaglione and Giacomo Gensini, SHADOW follows A young soldier returning from Iraq, who goes on a high mountain adventure in a desolate place in Europe to forget his past, he will learn truth in a mysterious local legend discovering that reality can be sicker than nightmares.
Okay, so that doesn’t shed a whole helluva light, does it? Don’t fret, you’ll get all you need and then some in the trailer below. Everything about it, the look, the angles shot, the music, the violence…I can’t help but dig this style of filmmaking. Hopefully you do as well!
SHADOW stars Nuot Arquint, Ottaviano Blitch, Gianpiero Cognoli, Chris Coppola, Emilio De Marchi, Jake Muxworthy, Matt Patresi and Karina Testa. Gotta love how real Italian actors are being used, as opposed to say, Argento’s GIALLO, which he populated with a fair share of American actors. Not only do I prefer, but I appreciate the authenticity Zampaglione is shooting for!
No U.S. release dates are known yet, but keep it here to find out. In the meantime, check out the equally rad Official Site for the film.
Claudia Gerini, star of Zampaglione’s ZERO BIFAMILIARE!
