After the forgettable mess that was SPIDER-MAN 3, it’s nice to hear that director Sam Raimi is returning to the sort of material that launched his career.
Raimi will cause some low-budget carnage with DRAG ME TO HELL, a supernatural thriller he wrote with brother Ivan more than a decade ago. The movie, described as a “morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse”, will be a production with Raimi’s genre company Ghost House and will roll in early 2008.
Not much more info on the project is given, though Raimi’s longstanding producer/chum Rob Tapert says: “Sam calls it a ‘spook-a-blast,’ a wild ride with all the chills and spills that ‘Evil Dead’ delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film.“
Raimi has another dozen or so potential projects to produce under the Ghost House banner, including the still-threatened remake of EVIL DEAD.
