Rami Malek crosses a line in trailer for the final season of Mr. Robot

Nothing lasts forever, and Rami Malek's time as Elliot Alderson on Mr. Robot will soon be coming to an end. USA Network has released a bloody Christmas-themed trailer for the fourth and final season of Mr. Robot, which gives us a small taste of how Elliot's story comes to an end. "You go down this path, it’ll never end," Christian Slater's character says in the trailer. "It’ll always be something else. Another symbol to destroy. More people to save. This is an endless war. What you’re about to do is crossing a line." The final season will pick up where the third season finale left off as it dives into the pros and cons of Elliot hitting "send" on the email that could reverse 5/9.

Although Mr. Robot is coming to an end, Rami Malek's future is looking bright. Not only did Malek win Best Actor at the Academy Awards for BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, but he's also taking on the role of the lead villain in Daniel Craig's fifth and final James Bond film, NO TIME TO DIE. Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail has said that although he had toyed with the idea of a fifth season, he realized that the story would be coming to its natural end sooner than he thought.

When I first created the world of Mr. Robot, I thought it would be a niche television series with a small, cult following. Over the past three years, it has become so much more, and I am continually humbled by the show’s recognition and by the amazing cast and crew that work tirelessly to help bring my vision to life. Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of Mr. Robot, I have decided that conclusion is finally here. Everyone on the creative team, including the amazing people at USA and UCP, didn't want to say goodbye, but we ultimately have too much respect for Elliot's journey to extend past its inevitable ending. Therefore, season four will serve as the final chapter of the Mr. Robot story. To fans of the show: thank you for the past three years, and I can't wait to share this exciting final season with you.

The fourth and final season of Mr. Robot will premiere on USA Network on October 6, 2019.
