Well, how do you like that? Two of my favorite actors, Sterling K. Brown (Hotel Artemis, Black Panther) and Randall Park (WandaVision, Always Be My Maybe), are teaming up for a new action-comedy at Amazon. Both will star in and produce the project through their respective labels, Indian Meadows and Imminent Collision.
Written by Wu-Tang: An American Saga scribe Alex Tse, the new project is said to be in the vein of 48 Hrs. For those of you that are too young to remember, 48 Hrs. starred Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte, as a reluctant cop-and-criminal duo who are tasked with taking down a killer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new project focuses on two estranged childhood best friends, to be played by Brown and Park, who now find themselves on opposite sides of the law. Framed and on the run, the two must survive each other long enough to clear their names and stop an international criminal enterprise.
Joining Brown and Park on the production side are Hieu Ho and Michael Golamco of Imminent Collision. Danielle Reardon is also a part of the executive production effort.
Known for a series of stand-out film and television roles, Sterling K. Brown is currently filming Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul for Adamma Ebo. Set in the aftermath of a huge scandal, the film focuses on Trinity Childs, the first lady of a prominent Southern Baptist Mega Church, attempts to help her pastor-husband, Lee-Curtis Childs, rebuild their congregation.
As for Park, he recently reprised his role as FBI agent Jimmy Woo for Marvel’s WandaVision. The show has received critical acclaim from countless outlets and has been nominated for 23 Emmy awards. As a filmmaker, Park recently worked on the upcoming series Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. for Disney+. Soon, he’ll make his feature directing debut with an adaptation of the graphic novel Shortcomings. Some would say he’s a Jack of all Trades, and Hollywood is lucky to have him.
