Raven Banner acquires slasher Lost After Dark, starring Robert Patrick

There's nothing quite like the great slasher films of the 1980's. That decade brought us some of the most memorable horror films of all time and continues to inspire countless filmmakers who attempt to emulate what made those films so much fun. Now Screen Daily is reporting that Raven Banner will be headed to Cannes with a new horror film inspired by that decade of greatness with the Robert Patrick-starring LOST AFTER DARK.

Raven Banner has acquired worldwide sales rights to Ian Kessner's LOST AFTER DARK and will be introducing the film to buyers at Cannes, according to Screen Daily. The film also stars David Lipper and eight of Canada’s young rising stars, including Alexander Calvert and Elise Gatien.

Lost After Dark follows a group of teenagers who sneak out of a high school dance, and head out to party at a friend’s cabin. Along the way their ride breaks down, stranding them near an abandoned farmhouse. After the brutal murder of one of their friends, their quest for help becomes one of survival.

Lost After Dark pays tribute to iconic horror classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween and Friday the 13th. Its unique selling point is that the story is a homage told in a retro style that takes audiences back to 1984, when the slasher film ruled the box office.

I'm always down for another 80's-inspired slasher, so count me in! Plus having the great Robert Patrick involved makes this one worth checking out.
