Raven Banner to adapt Clive Barker’s Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament

Anytime we hear of a new flick coming our way that is based on the work of Clive Barker we perk up and take notice. Anyone familiar with his books can attest that he is brilliant beyond words, creating some of the most imaginative worlds and characters ever committed to ink and paper. And all one has to do is check out HELLRAISER, NIGHTBREED or LORD OF ILLUSIONS to recognize that the man knows his horror. Now Screen Daily is reporting that Toronto-based Raven Banner Entertainment is set to adapt Clive Barker’s short story "Jacqueline Ess: Her Will And Testament", which originally appeared in Barker’s anthology novel "The Books Of Blood" and tells of a beautiful seductress with the ability to change people’s body shapes with her mind.

Raven Banner will produce with Barker’s Seraphim Films on board as executive producer. The feature production is scheduled to commence in the autumn.

Partners Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew Hunt brokered the deal with Noor Ahmed of Reder & Feig on behalf of Seraphim. Says Hunt of the deal…

“All of us at Raven Banner have been huge fans of Clive’s for years and I personally have always loved the story of Jacqueline Ess. It has all the qualities one wants in a modern horror film, so I’m excited to see it finally being brought to life on film.”

As am I, Mr. Hunt. As a fan of Barker's "Books of Blood" I'm always excited to hear that a film version of his tales is in the works. We'll be keeping an eye out for any news regarding "Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament".
