Razzie Nominations!

Being the horror loving badasses we are, sometimes we’re forced to watch a lot of shit in hopes that some genre efforts are better than they look. And yes, for some reason we’re abused more than other movie fans because we’ll sit through a lot of crap in hopes to find a diamond in the rough (as the saying goes).

This year was no exception, as there was A LOT of crap released, and with the Awards season upon, it’s time to forget about all that shite, and pay attention to the good flicks that hit theaters this year. Unless, of course, we’re talkin’ The Razzie Awards! The Golden Rasberry Award Foundation released the awards for the WORST movies and the overall CRAPPY performances in cinema this year… and it’s no surprise horror flicks are near the top of the nominations list!

The awards would be a sham if THE WICKER MAN wasn’t on the top of the list, as it has to be one of the worse movies ever made, while competing for one of the funniest pictures of the year. And there you go- Nic Cage and the island of loonies are up for a few nominations! Nice! Also to note that Uwe Boll’s umpteenth video game adaptation BLOODRAYNE is also up for Worse Picture, alongside BASIC INSTINCT 2 and LADY IN THE WATER.

While I didn’t think BLOODRAYNE and LADY were that bad, it doesn’t mean I don’t think they should be nominated. Other flick’s I would have liked to see on the list include WHEN A STRANGER CALLS and THE OMEN, but hey… what can ya do?

The Razzie Awards takes place at 7:30pm/PST on Oscar eve, Saturday, February 24 at Hollywood’s Ivar Theatre. Check out the nomination below, separated by movie:
