Re-animate This?

Re-animate This?

Sour news for all of us Re-Animator fans. Apparently the news of a HOUSE OF RE-ANIMATOR project was a bit premature. Director Stewart Gordon was clearly interested, with a nice concept concerning the death of Dick Cheney, putting him in need of the services of one Herbert West. And Jeffery Combs had at least mentioned to a fan that his agent asked if he’d be willing to re-animate that role one more time. Sounds promising, eh?

But there’s always a spoiler. It turns out Brian Yuzna doesn’t like the concept. Here’s more from Gordon on that:

“There’s nothing much to report on ‘House.’ Brian Yuzna doesn’t seem to want to go so political,” Gordon tells Dread Central. “He’s afraid it would seem dated in a few years. Maybe the fans could help change his mind.”

I guess I can see Yuzna’s point, but it does seem if you just make it a random VP, instead of specifically Cheney, you might have another classic for the ages. Or hey, why not go the Vs. route and give us JAWS OF RE-ANIMATOR. West could bring back the sharks from all four movies, bent on revenge after getting into a fender bender with one of the Brody’s step-cousins. Hell, if they really want to expand the audience they could even throw Aquaman into the mix.
