THE DARK KNIGHT RISES cinematographer, Wally Pfister, is set to make his directorial debut with the sci-fi pic TRANSCENDENCE and has now added another solid performer to bring it to life.  IRON MAN 3’s Rebecca Hall has now joined the already cast Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany in the Jack Peglan scripted film.  The secretive project revealed a small synopsis from producer Andrew Kosove a short while ago, which goes like this:

The plot involves a scientist whose brain gets uploaded into a supercomputer with the aim of creating the world’s first machine that can think for itself.

Sounds very INCEPTION-meets-THE TERMINATOR to me, which isn’t a bad thing.  The cast alone is already shaping this into something worthwhile and the fact that it’s a sci-fi pic with a high profile cinematographer at the helm adds another layer of intrigue.

TRANSCENDENCE starts shooting next month with a targeted release date of April 25, 2014.
