[Rec] terrifies Sitges!

Here’s what you like to see – a packed auditorium of people shittin’ their pants! Okay, let me elaborate in case you misunderstand me (really, I’m not into that in general): Below you’ll see some footage from a screening of [REC] at the Sitges Film Festival – and if seeing is believing, you’d better believe this movie is scaring the bejeesus out of the poor folk there (perhaps more importantly, looks like it’s a lot of fun too!)

If it’s this effective, makes you wonder why they’re remaking it. Here’s the synopsis for the original, and presumably, the remake: While covering the night shift at a small-town fire department, an ambitious young television reporter (Manuela Velasco) and her cameraman follow the crew on a call to rescue an elderly woman unable to escape the inferno that is consuming her home. Upon their arrival at the scene, the calm midnight air is pierced by the sound of horrific screams, and the television report takes an unexpectedly dark turn.

The remake is going under the name QUARANTINE, and is currently in pre-production with an eye toward a November start date. John and Drew Dowdle (THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES) are at the helm.
