Red Band trailer for The Loft with Karl Urban, James Marsden, and Rhona Mitra

A remake of the 2008 Belgium film of the same name, THE LOFT stars Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Rhona Mitra, Isabel Lucas, Rachel Taylor, and Eric Stonestreet as husbands and wives who are suddenly thrown into a murder conspiracy when the body of a murdered woman shows up in “the loft,” which the men use for their private indiscretions.

Directed by original helmer Erik Van Looy, the film has a twist and turn vibe that could lead anywhere, unless you’ve seen the original, of course (which I haven’t).

Take a look:

My interest is piqued by the cast alone, especially Rhona Mitra, but I’m not quite sure if this is something that will have much luck at the box office.  Something about it feels a little too familiar and the dialogue comes off a bit wooden, but there’s still promise if the premise can rise above the expected.

Here’s the synopsis for the original:

Five close friends, all of them married, share a loft to meet their mistresses. One day they find the body of a young woman in the loft. Since there are only five keys to the loft, the five men begin to suspect each other of murder.

THE LOFT doesn’t currently have a release date, but is expected to bow sometime in 2012.
