Red Notice 2: Gal Gadot says the sequel is still on its way

While Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson’s ventures in the DC Extended Universe didn’t quite work out the way they had hoped, as well as the two finding themselves returning to a certain car franchise after a couple of cameos indicate their future involvement, they may co-star together yet again as Gal Gadot gives an update that a sequel to the Netflix heist-action-comedy Red Notice, which starred Gadot, Johnson, and fellow past DC casualty Ryan Reynolds, will still be getting a sequel.

Gadot will be starring in a new action movie that will be debuting on Netflix titled Heart of Stone. While Gadot and her co-stars, Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt, made an appearance to promote the movie at the streaming platform’s fan event, TUDUM, the Wonder Woman star would also fill the audience in on the status of the Red Notice follow-up according to Collider. Gadot expounded, “We’re all talking about it. I don’t know if I can say anything! I already read the second script and it’s… whoo! We’re all very excited about it!” Red Notice debuted on Netflix in November of 2021 and by January 2022, the streaming company would greenlight a sequel.

However, there has not been an update on Red Notice 2 since it was reported that the script had been completed back in October 2022. Gal is the only one from the cast to reveal that she’s read the completed screenplay. Meanwhile, Johnson is busy filming a Christmas-themed action comedy with J.K. Simmons and Chris Evans titled Red One (no relation to Red Notice) that is set to stream on Prime Video for the holidays. And Reynolds is currently partnering up with Hugh Jackman for Deadpool 3, which is the first official Marvel Studios production with the character.

Red Notice saw Reynolds and Gadot competing for a theft of a valuable piece of art while they are pursued by Johnson’s FBI agent character. The three get entangled during the plot and eventually work together for a unifying cause. All three are set to return, and the producers of the film, Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia, had revealed that they planned to shoot Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 back-to-back.
