There’s not a lot by way of awesome here, but hot damn, if people can get excited about Britney Spears leaving her house and not going to a custody hearing, then they should be getting excited about David Mamet’s new film. As such, here are the first two stills from his upcoming flick REDBELT. Here’s the skinny:
In the film, Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is the chief instructor at the Southside Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Although a talented fighter, he refuses to compete in professional bouts: “Competition weakens the fighter.” Instead he trains dedicated students in the art of self-defense: bodyguards, cops, soliders. At his brother-in-law’s club one evening, Mike saves a famous action star, Chet Frank, (Tim Allen) from a severe beating. His defense of Frank leads to a job in the film industry, but other events conspire to force Mike to participate in a prize fight.
It’ll be cool to see Allen in something where he isn’t single-handedly ruining Christmas, or where his catch phrase is owwoooohh. And Ejiofor is always great, so peep the pictures BELOW and get your mixed martial arts on.
