Reeves directs Cloverfield

There’s a brand spankin’ new project in the works right now over at Paramount that’s so new and top secret, no one even knows the real name of it. No one really knows what’s it about (I mean, really…), and only a few bits and pieces of who the producers are are being leaked. Apparently, everyone involved is trying to keep this as hush-hush as humanly possible, and in todays world… that’s not an easy thing to do!

AICN has been scoring all sorts of inside information on the new flick, tentatively titled CLOVERFIELD, a fake-name used to throw people off as Cloverfield is actually the location where the production’s offices are located. Last week word got out that Lost and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 director J.J. Abrams is onboard producing the flick, with Drew Goddard (Lost, Alias) writing the script. No one really knows for sure what it’s about, other than a teaser trailer was shot for it before production has really started on the film, and it’s supposedly going to be on all prints of TRANSFORMERS starting tomorrow!

The trailer is basically a documentation of aliens blowing up and taking over the world through the eyes of someone’s personal handheld camera. From the sounds of it, it’s THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT meets INDEPENDENCE DAY- to see what I mean, go ahead and check out the full description of the teaser HERE.

Today’s big deal is that Matt Reeves is the man in the director’s chair, a dude who’s been a writer on shows from FELICITY, CONVICTION, HOMICIDE, and RELATIVITY, and who’s only directing gig has been the comedy THE PALLBEARER with David Schwimmer. And now he’s helming a top secret alien take-over movie? Holy shite!
