Phantasm: Ravager Reggie Bannister

We are now just days away from the theatrical and digital debut of PHANTASM: RAVAGER, the fifth and final installment in the franchise that began back in 1979. Arrow in the Head's own Eric Walkuski already got to see RAVAGER at Fantastic Fest a week ago (he gave it a 7/10 review), and now I'm practically counting down the minutes until I get my chance to watch the return of the Tall Man, Reggie, Mike, and Jody.

To help make this final countdown a bit more bearable, RAVAGER distributor WellGoUSA has released a brief clip from the film online, giving the folks at Dread Central the exclusive first look at it. Although it runs less than two minutes, this clip, which can be seen below, does feature some things that brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart. Here we have Reggie Bannister back in the role of shotgun-toting ice cream man Reggie, one of the greatest heroes in the horror genre as far as I'm concerned, reclaiming his beloved Barracuda from the clutches of a car thief. Reggie had ditched the car in the middle of the desert, but that doesn't mean it's fair game.

Directed by David Hartman from a script he wrote with PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli, PHANTASM: RAVAGER stars Bannister, Angus Scrimm, A. Michael Baldwin, and Bill Thornbury, all reprising the roles they originated in the first PHANTASM movie. The film has the following synopsis:

For 37 years, audiences have followed small town friends Reggie, Mike, and Jody in their quest to stop the evil, dimension-hopping schemes of The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm in his final performance) and his armada of killer Sentinel Spheres. Now, Don Coscarelli’s acclaimed horror/sci-fi Phantasm franchise comes to a close in a truly epic finale, a multi-dimensional battle across multiple timelines, alien planets, and altered realities, where no less than the fate of Earth is on the line.

PHANTASM: RAVAGER will be reaching theatres and digital and VOD platforms this Friday, October 7th. To see if it will be playing on the big screen in your area, check the list of theatres at WellGoUSA.com. A DVD/Blu-ray release will be following on December 6th.
