Realm

Relativity has their eyes set on a new exorcism film, one that has a teenage girl kicking all sorts of demonic ass in REALM, from Rebecca Sonnenshine and John Swetnam. With Scott Speer set to direct, REALM is based on a short film of the same name and has just sold to Relativity in a mid-six-figure deal. In the short, a young woman (played here by Adelaide Kane) possesses the power to enter the soul of the possessed to wage physical battle against their inner demons.

According to Deadline, REALM has some potential franchise appeal in the vein of RESIDENT EVIL or UNDERWORLD, with a heroine reminiscent of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, so you can see why Relativity wants a piece of this.

The idea came from Swetnam (who scripted the short) and Speer, and they enlisted Sonnenshine to pen the script (she is a supervising producer on “Vampire Diaries” and knows the teen existential crisis-meets-the supernatural terrain). Swetnam, known for Into The Storm and Step Up 5, will produce through his Mad Horse Films banner.
