Release dates are moved for The Master and Killing Them Softly

A couple of films you might be interested in seeing have switched release dates. THE MASTER and KILLING THEM SOFTLY have been moved around by The Weinstein Company.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s THE MASTER went from Oct. 12 to Sept. 14. The film will open to a, “limited release against Disney’s animated family pic “Finding Nemo 3D,” Screen Gems’ action horror sequel “Resident Evil: Retribution,” Summit’s teen drama “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and IFC Films’ collegiate dramedy “Liberal Arts.” Anderson’s film will then expand to additional cities beginning Sept. 21, the day “Killing Them Softly” was originally skedded to open.” Anderson’s film centers on, “A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as “the Master” whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.”

Andrew Dominik’s KILLING THEM SOFTLY was moved to October 19th and will go against, “Paramount’s supernatural sequel “Paranormal Activity 4,” Summit’s crime thriller “Alex Cross,” Paramount Vantage’s David Chase-directed drama “Not Fade Away” and IFC Films’ thriller “The Loneliest Planet.” For those of you who may not have this film on your radar, that film focuses on, “Three dumb guys who think they’re smart rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order. KILLING THEM SOFTLY also features Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn and Vincent Curatola. Max Casella, Trevor Long, Slaine and Sam Shepard also make appearances. KILLING THEM SOFTLY is written for the screen and directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and is based on the George V. Higgins novel, “Cogan’s Trade.”

Very happy that THE MASTER got moved up earlier.
