Remake Squad?

I just recently caught MONSTER SQUAD for the first time… and it was damn fun! It’s a classic old school kid’s movie. Designed for kids, but enough twisted stuff going on to entertain us bigger kids, MONSTER SQUAD is a winner.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the classic, seeing how it’s become a cult classic since hitting VHS/DVD. What most of you probably aren’t aware of is that there are plans for MONSTER SQUAD to be remade! Who saw that coming?

The guys over at Bloody-Disgusting are dropping word that Rob Cohen recently opened the can of worms when he stated that Paramount Pictures have scored the rights to remake MONSTER SQUAD and that he is producing.

MONSTER SQUAD works damn well just the way it is… as is the case with most of these remakes… there’s just no need! What can they possible update in MONSTER SQUAD? Better graphics? Cheesy graphics help a movie like this, CGI would just ruin it.

I suppose a potential update could be throwing a different group of ‘monsters’ together instead of the classic ‘Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, Wolfman, Fish-man.’ But unless they’re planning on throwing Freddy, Jason, Michael, and Leatherface together… I don’t see what else they can do.

But regardless, it looks like the MONSTER SQUAD remake is in the works. We’ll keep you updated once we hear more.
