I don’t think anyone out there would argue that TERROR TRAIN, the 1980 slasher on a train starring Jaime Lee Curtis, was cinematic horror at it’s absolute finest, but did it really need to be remade? No, no it didn’t. It’s not a fine film, but damnit, it’s a classic… which is likely why they decided to go ahead and remake the darned thing. Except they’re not banking on name recognition to land folks in seats this time, as they’ve dropped the TERROR and now, it’s simply known as TRAIN.
Nu Image revealed the first teaser poster for TRAIN, which stars Thora Birch (the new Jaime Lee?), and while I was opposed to this remake, I must say… this poster is awesome! Obviously a super teaser of a poster (as there’s no way MPAA would allow this to be seen in theaters), there’s nothing like a blood splattered severed limb to put a smile on my face. Plus, it’s pulling the emergency break cord. Nice touch.
Even the cliched tag line works for me here, although the backwards R in TRAIN has me a bit perplexed. What’s the reason for this? Why is it backwards? Does it mean something? Or is it just an artistic touch? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. No word on when TRAIN is set for release, so in the meantime, sit back and enjoy the poster!
