Remaking a Spell

With the success of THE RING and THE GRUDGE, it’s been pretty obvious that Asian horror is hot in America… when it’s remade in America. There’s DARK WATER this summer that’s expected to be huge, and now it’s the South Korean flick BUNSHINSABA that’s set to be remade.


The original, directed by Byeong-ki Ahn, followed the story of a teenage girl who moves from a big city to a small town, and is bullied by her smalltown classmates. So she decides to put a curse on the bullies…. only to find the curse works, bringing more horror to the small town than anyone could have imagined.


The remake, now titled THE SPELL, will be produced by Samuel Hadida, who’s currently adapting the video game adaptation of SILENT HILL. No director has been named yet as it’s still early in development.



The flick sounds cool enough, and we can only hope that it won’t be PG-13… ha! Yeah, I know, that was funny, of course it’ll be PG-13, but if we’re lucky, this one will be as scary as the original.
