Hollywood has once again shown they they are really making the effort to ensure that young, pretty, blonde actresses don’t get overlooked when it comes to choice roles. Today we are treated to the news that Bridget Jones herself, Renee Zellweger will headline the remake of asian horror flick JIAN GUI (THE EYE).
I can’t tell you how it warms my heart to see this underepresented population finally getting their chance on the big screen.
THE EYE centers on a woman (Zellweger) who sees more than she bargained for when she regains her vision after a cornea transplant. For extra info on the whole more than she bargained for bit, read the Arrow’s review of the original.
In fact, let’s keep these blondies, and the Hollywood remake trend in their place. Go rent or buy the original, and skip the remake. Sure that means the towheaded actresses of the world will have one less asian remake sequel to pursue, but we’ve all gotta make sacrifices for the greater good.
I’m sure Renee would agree.
