Resident Evil’s Milla Jovovich would love to return to the franchise

Four years have passed since Resident Evil's Milla Jovovich and mastermind Paul W.S. Anderson wrapped up their run of Resident Evil movies with the sixth film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. (Buy the six movie collection HERE.) Anderson and Jovovich have moved on to another video game adaptation, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil is moving on without them – there's a TV series in the works at Netflix, and director Johannes Roberts is currently in production on a feature reboot that is directly inspired by the first two Resident Evil games… But if Jovovich is ever asked to do something else Resident Evil-related, it sounds like she would gladly accept the offer.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Jovovich said,

Resident Evil is such a huge part of my life, on so many different levels. I was such a big fan of the game. That's what made me want to be in the movie to begin with. So, I would always love to go back to the Resident Evil universe. I think it's such a fun place to be in, and it's such a great reality. And, listen, I spent half of my career in that world. I would love to be a part of it again. I know whoever is doing it is going to have an amazing time on it, because it's a really fun world to be a part of."

Meanwhile, Anderson seems to be very done with everything Resident Evil. He told ComicBook that The Final Chapter

was the time to walk away from it. I did what I said I was going to do and I'm immensely proud of it. And I think we did it, we achieved what we wanted to."

I still haven't seen most of the Resident Evil movies Anderson and Jovovich did, so I can't say I'm hoping they'll come back to do a Resident Evil 7. Maybe Jovovich could return to the franchise in a different role in the Netflix show or a follow-up to the movie Johannes Roberts is making, which I am very much looking forward to.

Roberts' Resident Evil stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, Donal Logue as Chief Irons, Chad Rook as Richard Aiken, and Lily Gao as Ada Wong. It's scheduled to be released on September 9, 2021.
