Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City gets February 4K, Blu-ray, DVD release date

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, writer/director Johannes Roberts‘ reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise, is currently available to watch on VOD – you can rent it through Amazon Prime right now – and is probably still playing in some theatres. The movie is getting a digital release on January 18th, but if physical media is your thing you’ll be glad to hear that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is getting a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on February 8th. Copies are available for pre-order on Amazon.

The film comes to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and digital with three all-new featurettes that aim to “take fans even deeper into the world of Raccoon City.” A limited edition 4K steelbook includes five collectible poster cards featuring fan art from around the world.

Directly based on the first two Resident Evil video games, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has the following synopsis:

Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever… changed… and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

Here’s some more information on the discs:

4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray include over 20 minutes of all-new featurettes, exploring the characters, creatures and creepy locations of Raccoon City as well as the process of adapting the first two games of the massively popular video game franchise for the big screen. A limited edition 4K steelbook, available at major retailers while supplies last, includes five collectible poster cards featuring incredible original artwork from winners of a worldwide fan art contest.
