#RestoreTheSnyderVerse: Fan campaign reaches over 1 million tweets

Zack Snyder's Justice League was founded on fan demand and that demand eventually led to a film that has exceeded most of our expectations.  The film is Snyder's true vision for Justice League and in that vision, we also get a series of loose ends that need to be tied up and various cliffhangers. These story threads are going to be left dangling because Warner Bros. has insisted that this is a one-off for the fans and for Snyder to get his film out as he originally intended. There are no plans to expand on Snyder's original planned arc for the franchise but that hasn't stopped fans from campaigning for its restoration and that fan campaign just crossed a significant milestone.

A new social media campaign bearing the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse has generated over 1 million tweets, according to the "Discussing Film" Twitter account. The campaign reached a bit of a fever pitch yesterday because the 5th anniversary of the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was making the rounds which made conversations about all things Zack Snyder and the DCEU become a hot topic on social media. The campaign also gained support from Cyborg actor Ray Fisher, who has previously been a vocal backer of the Synderverse continuing.

The SnyderVerse is no stranger to fan campaigns that generate buzz. On November 17, 2019, a Twitter campaign was started on the two-year anniversary of Justice League's theatrical release that pushed for the release of the Synder Cut. The campaign saw support from the cast as well, with Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher joining in on the fun. As we all know now, the fan cries became too loud to ignore and the end result is the 4-hour superhero epic adventure that is currently streaming on HBO Max.

In a recent interview, Warner Bros. CEO, Ann Sarnoff doubled down on the notion that Zack Snyder's Justice League concludes Snyder's trilogy that includes Man of Steel and Batman v Superman and that there are no plans to go beyond that. Sarnoff also extinguished any hopes of a David Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad by saying there were no plans to go down that road and they were "looking to the future." There seems to be a groundswell of support to continue the SnyderVerse after the positive reception of the Snyder Cut and perhaps if the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign is loud enough, Warner Bros. could change their minds but, at the moment, they seem set in their ways to not continue it.
